My lady and I are going down south for a week in the end of August to do our first pop up shop at her families gallery. She’ll be armed with her scissors and me a squeegee.

That’s right folks, I’ve spread my wings yet again and am now settling in at the new HeadHoods location, which is practically a stones throw away from the old spot. I apologize if this has caused you any inconvenience. I chose the hottest week to move and feel sweaty sweatshirts are the last thing on peoples minds right about now. For those of you that have visited me in the past or want to visit, don’t worry I am still very accessible and I encourage it. I’ve decided this last year that I don’t want to run a storefront any longer and feel my time is more utilized with serving the online community, not to mention I am now wanting to take HeadHoods on the road. Brooklyn is cool and all, but I want to start reaching out and visiting this place they call “world”. I’ve made some great connections via HeadHoods and it’s time to visit some other hoods.
So, I am just now blowing the dust off of HeadHoods as we know it and am getting ready for the approaching hood season. I know this constant sweat on my brow will soon cool and want to turn to icicles and I will be working diligently at my new top secret location to get the new site up. Not only will the new HeadHoods be easier on our wallets and pocket books, they will be fresh and constantly changing from week to week like bananas at the local bodega. Weird tasting and tough today, perfect and ripe tomorrow, and then gone forever. The new HeadHoods will have some new tricks up their sleeves, so stay tuned folks.

21 Ludlow Street

Last week three random czech kids showed up to my door to buy some HeadHoods and not only did I take there money (in exchange for some HeadHoods of course), I ended up with an art show, a chance to make a soundtrack for a skate video, and three new friends. Last Friday I did a rather spontaneous installation at 21 Ludlow’s pop up gallery, which is located at you guessed it, 21 Ludlow st. NY, NY. My friend Daniel Knepr is the man that made this possible. It will be up for the remainder of the month and I recommend stopping by to say hello and check out some of the really great work hanging at this new pop up gallery. All my pieces are for sale and priced to sell. I hope to do another one of these events in the near future.

My friends over at Beaner Bar, who are only a stones throw away asked me to hang some work at their cool little Coffee shop for the month of July. Go pay them a visit and give ol’ coffee stained three mouth Marilyn a hello and while you’re at it, get a tamale (they are the #$%) She will be hanging around and emitting a coffee scentfor the month of July. There will be some smaller pieces and posters available

Wayfarer pillow cases are way cool

My good pal, silkscreen aficionado Benjamin Weisman came out with these handsome wayfarer pillow cases. He gave me a pair and I dig em’ and you can dig em’ too! Ben, a.k.a. blueyedben has recently designed up and started a nice little web shop, where he is continually adding new products. When you go to order these cases, drop him a line and tell him to quit his day job! Ben is the man responsible for my awesome blog and is also open to the idea of doing more of this kind of work. Keep an eye out for this cat.

Bike Polo!

While taking a stroll around my spot, I stumbled upon the East Coast Bike Polo Championships ESPI 5 taking place a block from HeadHoods. I couldn’t help but notice the untouched court walls and the fact that I had a bunch Vargas girl bikers back at my place waiting to be pasted! Being a bicycle enthusiast myself with a bad knee to prove it, I took it upon myself and went back that night and did some paste ups. I definitely became more of a fan of bike polo that weekend and could even see myself getting back on the saddle and joining a team. Each team had great spirit and reminded me of a three piece rock band on bikes. I made up some custom bicycle inspired king and queen hoods to the teams that won. I was told my paste ups and silkscreens will stay up and the boards will be reused at other championships.

I’ve just now started a flickr account, which I will be updating alot.

What’s Baudouin doin on a HeadHood?!

I didn’t know who Baudouin was either when my friends from Blender 01 asked me to add him to their order for their store. Their store is located at 18 rue des Chartreux
1000 Bruxelles in Belgium. Baudouin is the fifth king of Belgium and he also happens to look like a mashup of weezer, Clark Kent and one of my dear friends, so I agreed to go with it! If you have a small shop and want to add some HeadHoods to your inventory, don’t hesitate to contact me.

We have if not the coolest barber chair on this side of the planet (thanks sweet toof) as well as one of the most talented hair stylists at your call. If you are interested in having your hair done, don’t hesitate to contact Martha Ellen Mabry to schedule an appointment. She specializes in curly hair and can do just about anything else. She’s been known to barter her hair cutting expertise for artwork or by donation. She believes everybody is entitled to having a great hair cut.

After a couple months of demolition, cleaning, painting and stocking, the HeadHoods alcove shop is finally open? Here you’ll find a staircase stacked with shirts and pasted boxes bulging with HeadHoods. I’m hoping to have an official opening in the next couple weeks. This store, like everything else HeadHood related will be a work in progress and I will constantly be trying to make improvements. I plan on packing this space with the coolest HeadHoods, totes, shirts and art I can make.
